Child Identification Program

The Jacinto City Police Department is proud to be able to create identification cards for our community's children.  The cards can be used by parents if the child should become lost or missing.  The information contained on the card, including a picture of the child, will allow officers to respond more efficiently and effectively when necessary.  The cards can be obtained during special events in the community several times a year.

Burglary Prevention

Most burglars are opportunist.  They travel through residential areas looking for common signs that a residence is unoccupied or not secured and then take the opportunity to commit the burglary offense.  The key to preventing a burglary of your residence is to take steps to ensure that you remove any of these perceived opportunities. Make your home look occupied even when it is not.

General Tips:

  • Keep all doors and windows locked at all times (even when home if possible)

  • All exterior door hinges should be on the inside of the door frame

  • Leave lights and radio or television on when out - Use timers to turn devices on and off when appropriate

  • Keep hedges and lawn trimmed

  • Don't allow daily deliveries to build up - cancel mail and newspapers while away

  • Keep garage door closed and locked

  • Never leave "tempting items" in plain view - keep lawn mowers, bicycles, barbecues, etc.. secured and out of sight

  • Consider outdoor lighting and install motion-sensitive lighting in backyard

  • Change locks immediately if keys are lost or stolen

  • Use alarm or have alarm system installed if possible

If your home is broken into:

  • DO NOT ENTER - The burglar may still be inside the residence

  • Contact police immediately - Use a cellular telephone or a neighbor's telephone

  • Do not touch anything until the police have completed their response

Other Information:

  • Be a good neighbor - report any suspicious activity to the police

  • If you are going away for an extended period complete a vacation watch form and bring it by the police department
